29 February - Spring Season Shows on Sale Today

North Devon Theatres will have you full of the joys of spring as a brand new season gets under way with more famous faces, great music, a West End musical, and the North Devon Festival.

The season kicks off to a murderous start with And Then There Were None. The Agatha Christie Theatre Company return with the first lady of crime’s best selling murder mystery from 31st March to 5th April with an all star cast led by Gerald Harper (Adam Adamant Lives and Hadleigh), Alex Ferns (the notorious Trevor in Eastenders), Denis Lill (The Royal) and Chloe Newsome (Coronation Street).

The magic of the West End comes to town when Blood Brothers plays at the Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple from 2nd to 7th June as part of the North Devon Festival. The gritty, gripping and truly memorable musical has delighted audiences all over the world, and now it’s the turn of North Devon so don’t miss out.

The Classical Season concludes with resident orchestra Sinfonia Classica with Alison Balsom. Then young tenor and Classic FM’s Artist of the Year Alfie Boe helps us celebrate the North Devon Festival on 11th June.

There is a captivating story for all the family with Danny The Champion of the World from 16th to 18th May. Roald Dahl’s action packed, funny, warm and moving book of a young boy’s fight to save his home can be enjoyed by all ages.

Two of television’s most popular funny-men will be appearing at the Queen’s to help celebrate the North Devon Festival. Paul Merton arrives on 13th and 14th of June with his Impro Chums. Then host of BBC2’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Simon Amstell will perform his dry, sharp and honest stand-up show on 21st June.

As always there is fantastic music to enjoy including a range of artists in The Gallery Sessions. Set in the intimate surroundings of the Gallery Café in the Queen’s Theatre, this is a chance to get up close to some truly talented musicians. Among those appearing between April and June are one-man-band folk singer Rory McLeod (recently seen at the Queen’s starring in Freeborn John), outstanding jazz from Tony Kofi Trio +1, and Trevor Watts & Veryan Weston.

The Landmark Beer Festival from 2nd to 5th May has the best music, real ales and entertainment the region has to offer. The line-up includes local favourites Amy Newton, Tabloid Press, Snakebite Cyanide, Zamba and many more all for free on the Bank Holiday weekend.

Sensational dance is also on the line-up with Simply Ballroom waltzing its way to Barnstaple on 10th April. Hosted by TV stars Sam Kane (husband of Linda Lusardi, currently appearing on ITV’s Dancing on Ice) and Sophie Lawrence, this ballroom spectacular features world-class dance champions in a must see show. Then larger than life ladies arrive at the Landmark in Ilfracombe on 26th April for The Big Ballet. The troupe is made up of women weighing no less than 17 stone each and you’ll be amazed by their athleticism as they combine graceful moves with fun choreography in this entertaining show.

There will be more dance this time aimed at the younger ones, with Angelina’s Star Performance on 30th and 31st May. The English National Ballet bring the enchanting animated story of the dancing mouse to life. There is more for the little monsters with everyone’s favourite purple dinosaur Barney and his friends. Join them for a song, dance and plenty of fun on 26th and 27th April as they visit a magical toy factory.
