The finest homegrown acoustic talent
Category: Barnstaple Fringe

Starts: Tuesday, June 10, 2008

An evening of acoustic singer songwriters featuring Pete Bruntnell, Tom ‘Silver Fox’ Norden, Jim Jones and Dave Little.

Pete Bruntnell was hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as "one of England's best kept musical secrets". His style was described by Uncut magazine as "Radiant...exquisite....monumental!" Signed by Rykodisc and later by Loose records, Pete has had comparisons made to Neil Young with a hint of Pink Floyd. Acoustic Tuesday will see him playing new material with his new line up of fantastic musicians namely "the murder of crows." To find out more and to get a taste of his exquisite sound log on to his myspace page at www.myspace.com/peterbruntnell or his website at www.peterbruntnel.com

Tom ‘Silverfox’ Nordon has had a rich and varied musical career - as a guitarist with The Edgar Broughton Band, Doll by Doll, Celebrated Artists Band etc, and as a studio engineer recording such luminaries as Stevie Winwood, Dr John, Viv Stanshall, Mott the Hoople, Rory Gallacher, Kevin Ayers, David Gilmour amongst others. He has written music for theatre, radio drama, short films and dance. He now runs the Music Technology/Performance courses at North Devon College and 2 years ago released an album as Silverfox entitled ‘Running on Empty’. To get an idea of what Tom’s up to now have a listen on www.myspace.com/silverfoxuk or his website at www.silverfoxmusic.co.uk

Another feature to the evening's line up is singer songwriter Jim Jones. One of his previous line ups was the band C-14, described in the national music press as 'classy alterna rock'. His most recent combination 'Small Town Mentality' were more spacey and acoustic than rock and managed to turn the ears of the british film industry by finding one of Jim's tracks "Still' being used on the soundtrack to the comedy brit flick 'Heroes & Villains'. Jim has played acoustic slots at Glastonbury Festival and supported american singer songwriter Suzanne Vega. He has toured the UK supporting Peter Bruntnell and is currently recording his first solo album. Acoustic Tuesday will see Jim (accompanied by some fantastically talented friends) playing his newest material to date. To find out more go to : www.jimjones.co.uk

Completing the line up of this jam packed evening of acoustic singer songwriters is local songster Dave Little. Comparisons of Dave's voice and skills have likened it to that of John Martyn, Nick Drake and Jack Johnson, to name but a few. Dave is as much an accomplished a guitarist as he is keyboard/piano player and his style and sensitivity bring great feel, depth and colour to his songs. Dave has also extensively toured the UK and may well feature in the odd accompaniment to some of the other musicians throughout the night.

On the whole a night not to be missed.
