Learning

New for schools: for cross curricular object based learning visit: www.museumthinktank.org.uk

Using the Think Tank website teachers can put together their own choice of museum objects for a box that will be delivered to their school as part of a workshop led by a member of Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon staff.

The Think Tank Box is introduced by a film; then learners can explore the contents of the box using a series of interactive games on DVD.

The Think Tank has been developed by museum professionals and teachers to offer learners the chance to develop research, investigation and problem-solving skills that can be used across the curriculum.  Suitable for learners from Year 3 onwards and for all ranges of ability.

Each Think Tank workshop lasts about 60 minutes. An introductory film sets the scene, then a menu of games is provided to help you explore the objects.  You can chose how long each game takes to play and can do as many as you want.

All you need is a room with a DVD player (including speakers) and a large screen (such as a computer that plays DVDs and an interactive whiteboard screen).  You may need some additional items for some of the games.

To book a Think Tank workshop visit our website www.museumthinktank.org.uk or contact Julian Vayne, Museum & Community Heritage Access Officer (Outreach & Education) julian.vayne@northdevon.gov.uk Tel: 01271 346747
